Oh well…It can happen to any of us… One day you find a scratch on your favorite pair of sunglasses.
Here are some handy ways to minimize the sad look of your damaged eyewear.
Replacement is the only long-term fix, but for those with plastic lenses, there are some options that can make your glasses wearable until you are able to get new lenses. Keep in mind that many of these at-home fixes will remove the protective anti-glare coating at the same time it removes the scratches, so proceed with care.
Note: Please make sure your toothpaste is non-abrasive, non-minty, non-gel, and non-whitening. Your teeth appreciate all those good things, but your lenses sure won’t! Better to stick to a regular tooth paste instead.
How to: Rub the paste into the scratch in a circular motion with a cotton pad or ball for about 10 seconds. Then rinse the toothpaste off with cool water. Repeat if necessary.
Use furniture spray
Note: The wax in furniture spray fills in the scratches. The only problem with this method is that the fix may only last a few days so you’ll have to repeat the following steps:
How to: Cover the frames with paper tissue or cloth to protect and spray the furniture spray on the lenses lightly. Then rub the furniture spray around in a circular motion until the scratch and spray disappear. Repeat if necessary.
